Cardboard Plant Protectors
If you have rabbits in your area, you know how destructive they can be. They can be ravenous eaters and are always attracted to whatever you don’t want them to eat! Typically I use plastic garden fencing to make plant protectors of various sizes, but this year I ran out of landscaping staples so I tried something a bit different, and I am pretty happy with the results.

The advantage of these cardboard protectors is that they provide a degree of shade to delicate seedlings and can be composted when you’re done with them. It also repurposes a waste stream and that’s already a plus.
How to assemble
They’re simple to make: simply cut a strip of cardboard that’s taller than what you want to protect. From 1-2” from the end of the strip, make a cut 75% through from the top. Now do the other end and make a cut 75% through from the bottom side. Once that’s been done, fold it around, line up the cuts and install your protector.
